Quick decision – and you got two

Venturing a supermarket here brings me back the memories of being twelve again. Fond recollections of always having too many decisions to choose from, always wanting to do everything at once and never feel quite satisfied, regardless of choice and outcome.

And it hits you that though years have passed and even your passport bares witness of this fact, you haven’t developed or progressed anything at all since. You’re still the indecisive kid who can’t make proper decisions in the candy shop; filling the bag way before reaching the end of the humongous candy-row in the candy shop. Doh!

Like when choosing flavor of Ben & Jerry’s. The immense selection they offer here is just ridiculous, creating a task so overwhelming even Marathon seems simple. Today I stood for a every long time, contemplating which one would finish my meal when it suddenly hit me that maybe it’s not such a bad thing to skip this whole ice cream ordeal. “You don’t want to look like those obese Americans you so ruthlessly demean through your Wayfare’s every morning on the subway, huh”, and quickly took two packages and added a memory note to even stop considering skipping the morning runs hereafter.

As a man who only have two rules in my none-ruled life; never complain, never regret, I guess it means I just have to carry on this kind of procedure.

Abracadabra

I remember my first encounter with true magic but not my exact age, but I'm sure it was before second grade cause dad was still living home.
It was daytime and my brothers and I were having one of our countless fights and my dad pulled me aside.
I was really upset cause they tried to steal this particular truck I was playing with.
He asked me to be the better man and ignore this and said I would be rewarded if I did.
Usually my dad brought home bunch of sodas and AKO-fudge of various flavors from somewhere, hid it, and only at special occasions were we given some.
Like when you vacuumed, helped out in the kitchen, or when you acted like the better man I thought as I stepped away, sure to be sipping on a Coke before soon.
He performed his usual trick where he kept the object of desire behind his back and you picked an arm and before my rapt eyes a shiny new truck of the exact same model we were arguing about was presented.
Now mark my words when I say this; the e x a c t same. From the identical size of the tires, composition of the wheels to the lines and shapes of the coachwork. Everything exactly like the other one.
Except it wasn’t rusty and aged, but bright green and still accompanied by the fresh smell of new.
As of today I still have no answer how he did this and when I ask him, he just chuckles and say he doesn’t even remember this.
But one lucky boy won't forget

First time

Imagine this kid, glued to the TV. The presenter has just announced that a brand new show is coming up next.
First episode ever of Björnes Magasin.
The claustrophobic sense of time-encapsulation is attacking from all angles. He wants to tear a hole in space, throw his excitement there and seal it with a sigh.
Almost bouncing he feels that the tears are near, but restrains himself, he knows from experience that moist eyes won’t be of advantage when watching TV. He's ready.

But this kid’s excitement of being part of this imprint of Swedish television, introduced to a new, fresh cartoon bear-character and his best-mate; Snigel, can only be measured by the disillusionment of what the brilliant cartoon-intro revealed.
Björne doesn’t look animated at all. It’s a guy in a bear suite.
Even a kid with his chest jam-packed of anticipation and clustered eyes of excitement can tell you that.

How Björne and Snigel really looks like.
