Adam McKay on one of the perhaps mot underrated (and best!) films of all time: Punch Drunk Love

[He has picked 'Flirting With Disaster' as a choice of top-films, but quickly amends himself]

"I personally don't think David Russell has ever made a bad film. This quietly may be his best. I was tempted to pick Punch Drunk Love but Flirting With Disaster edged it out because of Richard Jenkins nude acid trip.

The hell with it, it's a tie. Punch Drunk Love is insanely underrated because it dared to indulge in the most anti-American pursuit there is: whimsy. Jon Brion's score is so beautiful I think people had to pretend it didn't exist because it would contrast too much with their everyday life."
