Switzer
In 1967, Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to run the Boston marathon. After realizing that a woman was running, race organizer Jock Semple went after Switzer shouting, “Get the hell out of my race and give me those numbers.” However, Switzer’s boyfriend and other male runners provided a protective shield during the entire marathon. The photographs taken of the incident made world headlines, and Kathrine later won the NYC marathon with a time of 3:07:29.

Full Marathon was 1:44:21
Considering I haven't trained a millimeter for this race, we can only go/hope for under 1.40. Yes.
me number. (in Dana's name)
time for Marathon (half 1:44:21)

UPDATE: It was without comparison one of the worst things I've done. It was really cold. Just shorts and long sweater plus tshirt didn't help either. Jesus.

We're just not quite there
Getting theaa, but not theaa. Also side note reminder: never skip the morning run. You feel fat and disgusted-ish with yourself.

Dang!... too bad
So close yet so far away is an expression always used at moments like this. Because a cliche is a cliche cause it's true. We love cliche's btw.

Sunday Bloody Sunday: BOOM!
"The marathon is a charismatic event. It has everything. It has drama. It has competition. It has camaraderie. It has heroism. Every jogger can't dream of being an Olympic champion, but he can dream of finishing a marathon."
-Fred Lebow, New York City Marathon co-founder

So far I haven't:
Started packing.
Dismounting the furnitures.
Cleaning the apartment.
Arranged a cleaner to come and clean the apartment.
Arranged any moving boxes.
Arranged any movers.
Arranged any truck.
Confirmed the move-in date with the new super.
Confirmed move-in time with the new super.
Received the ley to the new apartment.
Been able to tell, said super, that we want white walls instead of the ugly yellow-ish white they have now.
The apartment pretty much looks exactly like it did 10 months ago, six weeks ago or four days ago. You wouldn't be able to tell a move is en route.
Tonight is also Halloween. I do have arranged the costume for that though; Chilean Miner.
Sunday I'm moving.
We are however raging optimists here at By: Beckett. POW.

OK so swimming is insane
There wasn't a bone in my body that felt like running this morning. So none had to.
Off and down to the pool and stroked away.
Wanted to try this new thing, cause I've felt I am a way too depressing sight for the eyes when I swim, since I constantly have stop after two laps and adjust my googles, trunks or do one of my simultaneous-fake stretching exercises (out of sheer exhaustion, of course). This new thing is simply: freestyle one lap, breaststroke one - and quit the pauses. Non-stop swimming. Boom.
After 10 minutes I felt that drowning was a better option than continuing this and after 15 I nearly did. Around 20 minutes into it I had hard time understanding what I was doing. I forgot to breathe, I was tumbling around like a plastic bag in the ocean on my "turns", I exhaled at the wrong moments and at one time I think was about to do back-swim. Involuntarily. All I wanted was a little rest. That's it. Just a simple, tiny rest by the poolside. There must have been something that was needed to be adjusted. Surely.
But with a frickin' marathon approaching (1 month w00t!) I started making parallells to it. You will experience this one billion times during that race. The lovely urge to stop. Pause. Have a break. Just rest for a bit. See, the human body isn't made to run much further than 20 km at once. After that it's simply exhausted and turns into survival mode.
Every piece of intelligent and non-intelligent desire in your body will scream at you to stop. Don't move. Rest. See that bench over there... looks mighty damn nice to sit down there for a bit, ey. Your muscles will ache, brain stop functioning. Limbs go numb. And many other things you don't want to experience will kick in. Best (only) way to beat this is as simple as it is tough. Carry on. Ignore your body. And just, continue.
As we did today. Boom. I continued for my full 30 minutes non-stop swim. Problemas now is that a) marathon isn't swimming. b) marathon will (probably) last a bit longer than 30 minutes.
Doh.

Today is the Lucia Day

And even though this picture has very little to do with the actual Lucia celebration it's nicer than a picture of a girl in white with candles in her hair. It's sad that Blogger can't display images properly; this puppy is actually huge and makes one guessing how many bricks used. I'm guessing many. CLICK for better view.

Crazy raining today = the Other option
Just went out to the balcony to fetch my running gear and/or swim trunks. Which were soaked. Completely. And cold. Cause it's pouring down. And freezing outside. Now, running was on the map today - but here's where my new life becomes crazy good.
Swimming.
The indoor option (that doesn't keep you dry weirdly enough; but making that all part of the plan).
PLUS: I now have the best excuse ever to try on my new swim goggles and tight little bugger to swim hat. Oh excitement (!). Not sure if I dare the hat though - looking like that people will expect greatness from every lap.

Sun in my eyes
No, it’s no fancy metaphor for something deep. It’s actually literally something I experience right now. Or suffering right now. It’s crazy annoying. Makes me not understand why bad boys don’t use it to hostages when torture’s required.
“Do this work here (e.g. paperwork) and sit right here – yes, yes right there in the center of the blistering sun. Yes, sit. Mohahahah”Saddest part is how happy I should be. No one in Sweden has even seen the sun in over a decade (it’s a dark country, yes), but I just keep on keeping on being cynical.
