Apparently The Room is some sort of cult classic here in New York. Ever since release an immediate raging hit and has continuously been attracting followers. As it now, still, screens one time a month, it is a huge crowd of people/fans who come to watch it.
Knowing every line and every iconic scene they yell in ecstasy over the vulnerability of the film/actors/script “You’re tearing me apart, Lisa!” or the in-depth detailed propping – a framed plastic spoon on top of a drawer -scene, that people pay their homage to by bringing their own plastic spoons to their screenings, while rookies are instantly given away by being given their spoons at the door upon entering.
