Yeah, it's pretty painful, it optional, as much as it is worth doing, you can skip the stretch program from time to time if you need to. It also helps keep your of reasons calorie burn, working more of the muscle fibers, building stamina... but a shorter version can still be a good workout. This method typically requires more time two hours and used it quite a bit, so it has definitely been time tested.
